Painting With Light
In photo 5 I drew the Nirvana smiley face logo. The shutter speed was on 10 seconds and I used a flashlight, turning it on and off for each line to achieve that effect. I don't really know how people would feel looking at it, but I thought it was a pretty cool picture so others might think the drawing looks pretty swaggering with me chilling in the background.
Aperture
To create a shallow depth of field I used an f-stop of f/11. ISO was 800 and WB was fluorescent 2.
To create a large depth of field I used an f-stop of f/30. ISO was 800 and WB was fluorescent 2.
I personally like the shallow depth of field photo more because I think it adds more character than just the crystal clear large depth of field picture. I would want to use shallow depth of field when I want one specific subject in a picture focused rather than everything. I'd use a large depth of field if there were multiple subjects with varying distances in the picture, such as a class photo or a nature shot of a bunch of plants and trees and what not.

Before/After
I chose my kitty, Aurora, to be the subject of my photos because I love my cats and I took shots of my other cat, Buddha, for my first assignment this year, so I decided to give her some love as well. She's tied with Buddha for my favorite thing, but unlike Buddha she's super affectionate, cuddly and loving. I took shots of Aurora not only in different places but I had pictures of her from when I first got her and used some of those as well. The first picture is of her and my girlfriend Erica napping together. The second shot is the first time I stumbled upon Buddha and Aurora cuddling together for the first time, which was important because originally they didn't like one another. The third is a point of view shot of her sleeping on my chest. The fourth is her snoozing in a laundry basket. The fifth is her chilling on her stuffed animal that we call Chipotle. The fifth is her licking up water off the shower curtain while she was spying on me showering. A few pictures had distracting backgrounds/features that I was able to get rid of/lessen by using the Clone Stamp tool in Photoshop as well as using the Fill tool. Some pictures I had already taken before this assignment started so when going through them I wanted to have photos that were pivotal to her growth in my life as well as her normal daily life of shenanigans. Most photos are either head on or from a higher up point looking down on Aurora.
